Odyssey Trust Company and Lumi Global Announce Completion of North America’s First Virtual Dissident Meeting Using the Lumi Meeting Platform

CALGARY, Alberta, Dec. 08, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Odyssey Trust Company (“Odyssey” or the “Company”) and Lumi Global (“Lumi”) are pleased to announce that the two companies successfully completed North America’s first virtual dissident meeting using Lumi’s innovative and proprietary meeting platform. The meeting, held between Australis Capital Inc. (“AUSA”) and a group of Concerned Shareholders, ultimately led to a group of director nominees, put forward by the Concerned Shareholders, being appointed to the Board of Directors of AUSA with each garnering more than 95% of votes in favour. The parties involved understood that there may be challenges in conducting a dissident virtual meeting, but due to the robust nature of Lumi’s interactive platform, and Odyssey’s ability to leverage technology, the process for the meeting was seamless.

Both Odyssey and Lumi are known for their innovative and tech-focused approach to shareholder services and completing the first virtual dissident meeting represents a significant advancement for companies needing or wanting to conduct their meetings virtually.

Odyssey’s virtual meeting team is led by Frank Kailik, who has over 14 years of experience in the transfer agent industry and a wealth of expertise focused on meeting set-up and execution. “We were excited to be the team leading the way to hold the first ever virtual dissident meeting in North America using Lumi’s proprietary meeting platform. As a challenger transfer agent, we’re always looking for ways to differentiate ourselves from our competitors, and leading this meeting proved we can step up and execute,” said Frank Kailik, Client Services Managing Director. “We look forward to being involved in future complex meetings, where we can leverage what we’ve learned to provide trusted advice for the benefit of our clients.”

“This proxy season was one for the books,” said Simon Bryan, Managing Director, North America at Lumi. “With most companies working from home and adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, we had significant demand for our services this meeting season. We welcomed the opportunity to showcase our platform at a dissident meeting and had a great experience working alongside the team at Odyssey during this inaugural event.”
